Fosroc ANZ's crack injection range has expanded with the launch of Nitofill PU140 – a new single-component polyurethane injection resin designed to help contractors and remedial specialists stop active water leaks quickly, reliably and with less complexity on site.

Nitofill PU140 FC300902-20KG

Nitofill PU140 reacts with water to form an expanding closed-cell foam that seals active ingress and helps restore dry working conditions fast. Whether used in basements, tunnels, lift shafts, retaining walls or other below-ground structures, the product provides a practical solution for projects where active leaks can delay repairs and disrupt operations.

Part of the broader Fosroc Nitofill crack injection range, Nitofill PU140 has been developed as a straightforward, general-purpose water stopping solution that can be injected directly using standard high-pressure equipment – without the need for accelerator or catalyst mixing on site.

Designed for active water ingress

Nitofill PU140 is specifically suited to remedial and maintenance projects where water is actively entering through cracks, joints or fractures in concrete and masonry structures.

Typical applications include:

  • Basements and underground structures
  • Lift shafts and plant rooms
  • Retaining walls and tunnels
  • Masonry and brickwork experiencing water ingress
  • Voids and inaccessible cavities requiring injection
  • Concrete structures with leaking cracks and joints

Because the resin reacts directly with available moisture, it's particularly effective in wet conditions where active leaks need to be stopped quickly and reliably.

Simple and versatile application

One of the key advantages of Nitofill PU140 is its single-component formulation. Unlike some polyurethane injection systems that require accelerators or catalyst mixing on site, Nitofill PU140 can be injected directly using standard high-pressure injection equipment.

Once injected, the resin reacts with water to create a semi-flexible polyurethane foam that expands to fill cracks and voids, forming a tight, impermeable seal. The resulting foam remains resilient enough to accommodate minor movement within the crack or joint.

The resin also reacts with fresh, mineral or sea water, increasing reliability across a wide range of site conditions.

Fast reaction for urgent leak sealing

When active water ingress is occurring, speed matters.

Nitofill PU140 has been formulated to react rapidly once it comes into contact with water. The material develops into a cream within 15 seconds and gels within two minutes when mixed at a 1:1 ratio with water. These fast reaction and expansion times minimise downtime during repair works.

The resin can be injected into:

  • Cracks and fractures
  • Construction and movement joints
  • Voids behind concrete or masonry
  • Areas that are otherwise difficult to access

Application tips

For effective injection, applicators should begin at the lowest point of the crack and work upwards to ensure the active water flow is fully sealed.

Because Nitofill PU140 reacts with moisture, dry cracks that are not actively leaking may need to be flushed with water prior to injection to initiate the polyurethane reaction.

The expanding nature of the material also means injection should be carried out slowly and under controlled pressure using appropriate packers and couplers.

As with all moisture-reactive polyurethane systems, product containers should remain sealed when not in use to avoid reaction with atmospheric moisture.

Supporting remedial and reinstatement works

Nitofill PU140 can also play an important role in broader repair and reinstatement projects.

In applications such as plant and equipment foundation reinstatement, the resin can be used to stop water ingress through cracked concrete before reinstatement works begin – helping create dry and stable conditions for follow-on repairs.

The product is a practical 'go-to' solution for contractors managing active leaks where potable water compliance is not required.

The Nitofill range: Ready for every crack, leak and repair challenge

Nitofill PU140 forms part of Fosroc ANZ’s broader Nitofill crack injection portfolio, giving contractors and remedial specialists access to targeted solutions for different repair and water stopping requirements.

Within the range:

  • Nitofill PU130 is a hydrophobic, accelerator-controlled polyurethane injection resin suited to large voids and applications requiring very high expansion.
  • Nitofill PU140 is a hydrophilic, single-component solution for general-purpose active water stopping.
  • Nitofill PU150 is a hydrophilic polyurethane injection resin suitable where flexibility and potable water compliance are required.
  • Nitofill LV is a low-viscosity epoxy injection resin designed for structural repair of dormant, non-leaking cracks.
