As Fosroc’s Specification Manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory, Deborah Cockburn works closely with construction project stakeholders to help realise first class results. She has spent her career in the product performance and specification realm and is passionate about finding the right solution for every customer and project.

“As Specification Manager, my role is to work with architects, engineers, specifiers, builders and contractors from the initial stages of a project. I find specific solutions for waterproofing, coatings and structural elements, which are formally presented then included in the tender package for that project,” Deborah explains.

“Being able to provide a formal specification helps everyone involved in the project to know what products are required and how to use them to ensure the design intent is followed. This underpins a successful project outcome.”

Tailored solutions plus training and support

By engaging Fosroc’s Specification Team, clients gain direct access to accurate product advice, unsurpassed technical support and documentation, specification and method statement support and more. This comprehensive service streamlines the design and delivery process, ensuring projects are both compliant and efficient.

“I enjoy being able to find solutions for customers, working with them and providing them with the confidence that the solution will work in their particular situation.”

“Fosroc stands above our competition in that we have a dedicated Specification Manager in each state. Along with Account Managers, having a dedicated Specification Manager ensures there is always a real person that can service the customer and provide advice, training and timely service,” Deborah says.

“Fosroc also commits to ensuring installers are able to access free training (certified if requested) to provide them and the asset owner with confidence that the products that have been specified or selected are installed as per the Technical Data Sheet by qualified and endorsed installers.”

Deborah says this point of difference gives project stakeholders faith in the specified solution. additional confidence.

“Having great products is not enough – there must also be a level of confidence and expectation that when Fosorc products are used, they are used as intended to ensure the best outcome.”

Adding value through product knowledge and technical expertise

Deborah holds a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Chemistry and Chemical Process Technology and is on the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA)’s SA State Committee. She has been with Fosroc (and previously Parchem) for almost 10 years, during which time she has built up vast knowledge and expertise across the entire product range.

“While I rate every Fosroc product highly, I do have a couple of particular favourites,” she says. “Nitomortar AP is one of them. This is a multi-purpose product that can be used in so many areas, for example as an epoxy repair mortar, an adhesive for multiple Fosroc systems, or for setting starter bars. It has good chemical resistance and is potable water certified.”

“Another personal pick is Proofex Engage. This is a fully bonded, pre applied waterproofing system that is robust and easily installed. It’s perfect for those scenarios when there is not space for the over excavation that many post-applied systems require.”

A focus on sustainability

Deborah and her specification colleagues around Australia and New Zealand provide customers with support to achieve construction sustainability goals, including guidance on achieving Green Star requirements.

“When specified and installed correctly, Fosroc products can extend the design life of a structure, which is a win for the environment.”
