An industry leader with international construction experience, Hamid Khan is an authority on concrete repair and protection. For more than 27 years, his engineering expertise and deep product knowledge have contributed to successful client outcomes and construction projects that will stand the test of time.
"As Product Segment Specialist, Repairs and Grouts, my role involves harnessing the advanced technologies behind Fosroc's products to deliver lasting repairs and long-term protection of concrete," he explains.
“Asset owners these days demand ambitious service lives for their structures. Understandably, they want them to last for many decades, if not hundreds of years, so they need construction solutions that are robust and extremely durable.”
An expert in concrete repair technologies, Hamid understands the importance of getting things right the first time.
“We don’t want to get into a cycle of repairing the repair," he says.
Prioritising repair over replacement
Acknowledging the growing push for sustainable solutions, Hamid prioritises repair over replacement.
“For me and for most asset owners, demolition is always a last resort. There are so many techniques and technologies available now to repair concrete and prevent further deterioration, you can typically avoid the cost and waste of demolishing an otherwise viable structure.”
Asked to identify the key ingredients for a successful concrete repair, Hamid nominates preparation, preparation, and preparation.
“It is so important to get the surface preparation right," he says. "Even using quality products like Fosroc, if you prepare the surface poorly, you'll get sub-optimal results. Contractors should absolutely seek our advice if they have any application questions or queries.”
A solution for every concrete challenge
From large structural repairs to addressing common concrete defects such as water leaks, surface cracks and imperfections, Hamid works closely with clients to identify the ideal Fosroc solution.
"As a global brand, we are fortunate that we can offer a trusted solution for every concrete challenge, whether we're looking to rectify low concrete cover, address honeycombing or remediate chemical degradation," Hamid explains.
"Clients know they can trust our products, our advice and our expertise."
